Which Edition of "Life in the UK- a journey to citizenship" is covered in your practice test
We offer practice tests based on Edition 1 and Edition 2 of the book. All our members with valid subscriptions can access both the editions.
Is this service FREE ?
From Jan 01 2007 this service will be subscription based. Our subscription starts from a nominal £1.99 (1 day) to a maximum of £5.99 (90 days)
Do I need to register in order to take online practice tests ?
Yes
How many exams can I give per day?
There are no restrictions on the number of tests practiced by a registered user. You can take the online practice test 24 x 7
I am having difficulty in registering.
Please check that you have filled all mandatory fields. Also check that you have accepted the Terms and Conditions. If you are still unable to register or getting errors then please write to us about the same with any error displayed.
I am not able to login. What do it do ?
Please check that you have entered your username and password correctly. If you do not remember your password then please use the
Forgot Password
link available on the home page. This will reset your password and a new password will be sent to your registered email address.
How long is my registration valid for ?
Your account is valid for online tests till the end of your subscription.
Will my account be deleted at the end of my subscription ?
No. We do not delete any accounts. Your account will be available to you but it will be in a state of "invalid". You will not be able to give any online practice tests. You can renew your subscription in order to give online tests
I get errors while giving the practice test. What do I do ?
Although this site has been tested thoroughly It is possible for some people to find errors. Do write to us with on the error and we will try to solve it as soon as possible
Are these Questions similar to the actual tests ?
The Questions in the actual tests carried out by the Home office will not be the same. But will be similar to the one asked in this website.
In which languages are these tests available ?
These tests are available only in English.
Are these online practice tests enough to pass the actual test ?
Although the practice tests available on this website cover all the chapters required to pass the test, We recommend that you read the "Like in the UK" handbook along with these practice tests.

Does the practice test cover all the areas required for the actual test ?
Yes. The Actual test conducted by the Home Office is based on Chapters 2,3 and 4 from the Book "Life in the UK" First Edition and Chapters 2,3,4,5 and 6 from Edition 2. This website covers all these chapters.
Can I share my id with my friends on different computers ?
No. This website does not permit multiple logins. Registration is FREE, please ask your friends to register.

Who has to take the test?
You should take the test if you are applying for naturalisation as a British citizen or If you are applying for indefinite leave to remain on or after 1 April 2007

At present, the test is only available in English
When do I take the test?
You should take the test before you apply for naturalisation as a British citizen, provided you meet all the other requirements for naturalisation. If you are giving the test after 1st April 2007 you need to appear for the test before applying for Indefinite leave to remain

Where can I take the test?
There are more than 90 test centres around the country where you can take your test.

How much will the test cost and how do I pay for it?
The test costs £34. You will need to pay this fee at your test centre before you take the test
What are the identification requirements for the test ?
You need to bring photographic ID with you to your test centre to present to the test supervisor.
Any one of the following are accepted.
1) Passport
2) UK Photocard Driving license
3) an Immigration Status Document, endorsed with a UK Residence Permit and bearing a photo of the holder
4) Convention Travel Document (CTD), a Certificate of Identity Document (CID) or a Stateless Person Document (SPD)
Is the test available in other formats ?
The test will only be available to take on a computer at an official test centre.
What will I be tested on?
The test is computer-based and is a series of 24 questions. If you take the test before 1 April 2007, it will be based on chapters 2, 3 and 4 of 'Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship.' If you take the test on or after 1 April 2007, it will be based on the second edition of 'Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship'.
How long does the test last?
You will have 45 minutes to answer 24 questions. This gives you plenty of time to choose your answers and check them again before the end.
When do I get the results?
You will find out your results when the test session has finished. The test supervisor will tell you whether or not you have passed.
Is there a minimum passing mark?
You have to get a minimum of 18 questions right out of 24 (75 percent)
What happens if I fail the test?
Your test supervisor will advise you if you have failed the test. You should not make an application for naturalisation as a British citizen or for indefinite leave to remain if this happens. You will have to wait a minimum of 7 days to take the test again.
I have enrolled for the standard test. Can I upgrade my subscription to add the audio feature?
If you have finished your current subscription then you an subscribe for the premium edition of the test. If you wish to upgrade your standard edition subscription then do write to us on enquiries@lifeintheukonline.co.uk and we will be happy to help you and try to solve your query
I have enrolled for the premium test. I am unable to hear the audio.
Please note that the premium test uses the Microsoft winodows media add-on. If you disable installation of this Active-X component then it is possible that you will not be able to hear the audio
How do I know if I need to install the windows Media player Active-X component?
If you have enrolled for the Premium edition the browser will prompt you if you wish to install the Windows Media player component. Please select 'Yes'. If you select 'No' then you will not be able to hear the questions
I have installed the Active-X component. I still cannot hear the audio.
Please be patient. The sound file often takes time to download on your machine. It mainly depends on the internet speed. If the audio file has been downloaded on you machine then it will start playing automatically

I do not want to pay online. What are the other modes of payment?
We accept Bank Cheques and Postal orders also. Cheques/Postal Orders should be made payable to "Mibaco Ltd" and sent to MIBACO LIMITED, 51 BURGHLEY AVENUE, BOREHAMWOOD, WD6 2JL . Please note that your account will be activated the day we receive the money into our account.
Will lifeintheukonline.co.uk keep any of my payment details ?
No. we have no control to read or take your payment details once you are redirected to the Paypal website for payment. All Payments and transactions are maintained by Paypal through their secure website. Paypal does not give us any details apart from the info if the payment was successful or not.
How much time does it take to reactivate my account once I make the payment ?
You can immediately start using our services once the payment is done. All you have to do is Logout and login again into your account.
Is it possible to get a refund?
No. The payment done for this service is not refundable. If you have any queries please write to us on enquiries@lifeintheukonline.co.uk before you make any payments.
